United Salt’s Houston Area Facilities Work to Recover after Hurricane Beryl
Dear Valued Customer,
Over one million businesses and households in the Houston area remain without power, and the United Salt Baytown and United Salt Hockley facilities are working to assess and mitigate the impact from Hurricane Beryl. In addition to interruptions in power and utility services, significant portions of the Houston area are without internet service which is hampering communication and connectivity.
Hurricane Beryl marks the third severe weather event that our Houston area manufacturing facilities have experienced over the past three months. Each event has created a new set of challenges for our operations and logistics teams, affecting our ability to provide reliable and dependable service.
While efforts to re-establish full manufacturing operations proceed, we have implemented the following strategies on several fronts to ensure business continuity and minimize potential supply interruptions.
- Manage Product Availability given Customer Needs – We are assessing the current order backlog and historical order patterns to best apportion available production from the Houston facilities. Our focus is to ensure that we adequately address the most critical customer needs.
- Evaluate and Employ Non-Standard Logistics Options – As another way of maintaining a steady flow of product to as many customers as possible, we may choose to ship partial loads as needed.
- Utilize All Available Capacity – Where possible, we will work to minimize the shortfall in production from the Houston facilities by filling critical customer needs from our other plants and warehouses, including packaging product at alternate locations.
Please be assured that alternate logistics or supply options will be cost neutral for our customers.
Our commercial, operations and logistics teams are mobilized and working to minimize the impact of these recent events on your supply of product. We greatly appreciate your assistance and flexibility as we work through these challenges to meet current demand and reduce our order backlog. Please do not hesitate to contact your Territory Manager to address any concerns or questions regarding the status of your orders.
We are committed to keeping you informed of our efforts toward re-establishing full plant operations. For the latest communication, please visit www.unitedsalt.com where we will post progress updates as they become available.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Thank you very much for your continued support.
